The 11am problem
Re-planning by instinct is expensive.
Most operations handle mid-day additions the same way: give the job to whoever sounds closest, or whoever answers the phone. It works, in the sense that the parcel moves. What it costs is invisible — a van doubling back across town, a time window quietly missed two stops later, a driver finishing ninety minutes into overtime.

Warm-start re-planning
Re-plan the rest of the day, not the whole day.
Lock what's done
Completed stops stay completed. GoLoop treats them as fixed history, not as work to be re-shuffled. Nothing a driver has already delivered is re-planned.
Send the live state
Post your drivers' current positions, what they have left on board, the remaining jobs and the new ones. Time already spent and capacity already used carry through.
Get a revised manifest
Every driver receives a new sequence from where they physically are — with arrival windows, remaining breaks and road-accurate travel times. First solutions in under 30 seconds.
This is the difference between re-planning and starting again. A driver should never be told to re-drive a street they finished an hour ago.
Why it's hard
Inserting one job is not a small problem.
Adding a stop to a route that is already running breaks most optimisers, because the day is no longer a blank sheet.
Partial capacity
A van that left full has different room now than it did at 7am, and only the loaded consignments know how much.
Consumed time
Shift hours and legally required breaks are partly spent. A re-plan that ignores that produces a manifest nobody can legally drive.
Committed windows
Later stops already have promised windows. The new job has to fit between them, not on top of them.
Constraints still apply
Refrigerated goods still need a refrigerated body. A tail-lift job still needs a tail-lift. Urgency does not relax a hard constraint.

Can you re-optimise a delivery route after drivers have left?
Yes. That is what warm-start re-planning is for. GoLoop takes your drivers' live progress as the starting point and re-plans only the work that remains, so a route can be revised at any point in the day.
What is warm-start re-planning?
A warm start means the optimiser begins from the plan and progress you already have, rather than solving the day from scratch. Completed stops are locked, in-progress work is respected, and the solver improves only what is still ahead — which is both faster and far less disruptive to drivers.
What happens to stops a driver has already completed?
They stay locked. Completed stops are treated as fixed and are never re-sequenced or re-assigned. The revised manifest picks up from each driver's current position.
How is this different from giving the job to the nearest driver?
Proximity only measures the gap between a driver and the new job. It ignores what the rest of their day looks like — the windows they still have to hit, the capacity they have left, and whether their vehicle is even eligible. GoLoop evaluates the insertion against the whole remaining board and puts the job where it costs least overall.
How quickly can a re-plan be produced?
First feasible solutions typically return in under 30 seconds, and the plan keeps improving within whatever time budget you set. That is fast enough to answer a dispatcher who is holding the phone.
Does this work for field service and healthcare visits too?
Yes. The same mechanism applies to any scheduled-visit operation where jobs get added or cancelled during the day and skills, equipment or appointment windows constrain who can take them.
